Germany Pricing

You saw the post from Norm that the ISA application for Germany is due March 15. The player package and application can be found in a post below. I have been asked about pricing.

This tournament is different than most. In most, we pay a player package fee that includes lunches, facilities, welcome package, awards banquet, etc. We then pay extra for accommodations, two or three dinners, and excursions.

With this tournament, we pay a small tournament fee of only 100 Euros (approx $154 Cdn).

The hotel package fees cover the rooms and all meals. This is where the cost is. The good news is that we have no reason to leave the hotel after arrival. Everything will be taking place in this facility including shuffleboard. We get six nights (starting with dinner on Sunday night and ending with breakfast the following Saturday morning). The price for this ranges from 1,001 Euros (approx $1,542 Cdn) for a single room to 1,792 Euros (896 x 2) (approx $2,760 Cdn) for two people in the double room with a balcony and view.

We have always had to pay the $75 USD per player fee (approx $110 Cdn) to the ISA. That remains in place.

Excursions are priced between 40 Euros and 50 Euros each per person (approx $62 Cdn and $77 Cdn).

What’s not included? Alcohol drinks (most of the time), arrival, and departure.

As we are staying at the same hotel as we’re playing in, there is no need for transportation after arriving at the hotel. However, transportation is a bit tricky. It includes flying into Frankfurt, taking a train to Fulda, and a taxi to the hotel.

The cost of the flight, I’ll leave to you to figure out. I looked up the cost of the train to Fulda, and it was 45 Euros (approx $69 Cdn) per person each way. The cost of the taxi to the hotel is 120 Euros (approx $185 Cdn) per car each way.

I attached a sheet that I did for Ann and I. Excluding the flight, alcohol, and excursions, and with the balcony room, it would cost us $3,933 Cdn for the two of us. I’d say this is the skinny version (other than our choice of room).

From here, we can decide what excursions we may or may not want to do and whether we want to spend extra nights before or after the tournament.

The exchange rates I used are shown on the top of the form. Obviously, this can change daily.

I hope this helps.
