Chatham Open Tournament

Thanks to those who have already taken advantage of prepaying their 2025 membership fees and to those who have prepaid their registration fees for Chatham. This will really help streamline things at the tournament. So far we have had sold 19 memberships already.

We have had three teams register for the Chatham Amateur tournament. It is NOT necessary to pre-register for this tournament but it would be appreciated.

We have had 13 teams register for the Chatham Open tournament. Although you do not have to prepay for this tournament, you should pre-register. Registration closes if and when we hit 24 teams.

All those who have prepaid and/or pre-registered have received confirmation. As some banks require a longer password, use OSAOSA. The question you set up doesn’t really matter so just say something like, “what is the best group ever”. The answer is OSAOSA. lol.

My email for questions or e-transfers is evan@northshore.tax. Email is the best way to communicate with me. I do not regularly follow text, Messenger, FB, etc., so I can’t ensure I will get your message.

Thank you. 🙂

    Hi Gerry.

Prepaying membership fees is only to help streamline the chaos of the first hour we typically see at tournaments. It’s not mandatory.

We experimented with eight court facilities. I believe overall, they’ve been successful. The downside is, of course, is if too many teams register.

There were complaints last year with the three things we tried when we had too many teams. First, amateurs didn’t like not being allowed to play in OPEN. We discontinued that practice. Second, too many byes, so not enough games. Third, we shortened the games, to accommodate more rounds, to get more games. Only OPEN players complained about this.

We’re trying something new as I’d hate to lose these two venues. If we have too many Ams, I’ll shorten the game, play during lunch, and get as many games as possible. Thats why pre-registering is optional for Ams. I can wing it Tuesday morning.

Open is a bit different. With no more than 24 teams, eight teams will have a bye each round. Staggering our lunch to get a sixth round in, will mean the game length remains the same, and everybody will play at least four games, and nobody will have more than two byes.

Therefore, we are requiring pre-registration for the OPEN only. Pre-paying is optional. Again, it will save the chaos on Wednesday of doing memberships and registrations. I’m happy many folks have done what they can to help the volunteers.

Thanks for your question. It’s important to see we’re trying to address concerns as they come up. 🙂
