Induction of Gerrit Dykman into the OSA Hall Of Fame – Special Award Category,
by Dotty Koert took place at the OSA AGM June 10, 2026.
Dotty’s words –
“Gerrit has been a tremendous asset to the shuffleboard community and a dedicated promoter of the game. He began playing in Florida approximately 15 years ago and has continued his involvement in Goderich while at home. Over the years, he has organized two OSA tournaments in Goderich and has contributed his time and effort to many other OSA events.
Gerrit has also participated in six ISA tournaments, including traveling to Texas a week early to assist with tournament setup. Similarly, he attended a CNSA tournament in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, arriving several days in advance to help prepare for the event.
In another instance, Gerrit transported the OSA trailer and equipment with his motorhome to Winnipeg for a CNSA tournament, arriving early to assist with setup and remaining afterward to help with teardown and return of the equipment.
During the COVID-19 shutdown, when clubs across Ontario were closed, Gerrit helped install four courts in a friend’s barn so that players could continue to enjoy the game.
This past summer, he brought his templates to the club in St. Mary’s and assisted with repainting the courts, which has since enabled the club to host a tournament this season.
Gerrit currently serves as a board member with the OSA and as a director with the CNSA.
I believe Gerrit is a highly deserving recipient of a Special Hall of Fame Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the sport of shuffleboard.
Henry and Leida Gerrits, along with Herman Lansink, would also like to express their support for this nomination.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Dotty Koert
