Submitted by Maureen. A lot of work to get things ready, take minutes, and get them out to us.A BIG THANKS to YOU MAUREEN.
Eight of us went to dinner. Only one decided to have dessert. A butterscotch sundae. Thanks Bev! "Seven spoons please waitress." said George. (Really? Seven? We would have to work something out). The sundae with spoons arriived. An extra big sundae. Spoons were passed around the table as far as they went. Poor Ella. Bev pushed the sundae to George. One spoonful gone. Then to Bill Bryan. Another gone, but no noticable dent in the amount left. Then Maureen goes after the overflowing butterscotch sauce. Then Bill Boyes has a go at it. Rip is next, enjoying it immensely. Then Carl, watched by Ella. Then Ella, sans spoon, is fed a mouthful by Bev. Lots still left. Bev wipes the spoon and takes some of HER sundae, then pushed it to George again. And so it went around again, with everyone having a second helping, and then a third, with much laughter and comment around the table. Present: Bev Fowler, George O’Reilly, Bill & Maureen Bryan, Bill Boyes, Rip Van Ginkle, Carl and Ella Rogerson.
On behalf of the OSA, I want to thank the Centre Wellington Shuffleboard Club for hosting the OSA Doubles Tournament that took place June 13th – 15th,2017. Rendall Bilton, Myrna Bilton and Muriel Burnett
Myrna Bilton was indicted into the Ontario Shuffleboard Association Hall Of Fame – P;ayer Category, in a ceremony held at the site of the OSA Doubles Tournament in Elora, June 14, 2017. Muriel Burnett did the presentation as follows:
Today, it is my honour and privilege to present Myrna Bilton for the Induction into the Ontario Shuffleboard Hall of Fame, Player’s Category Award.
We are extremely privileged, because standing before you is the International Shuffleboard Association, President. Myrna is the greatest promoter of shuffleboard you will ever meet. In fact most of us here, myself included took up this wonderful game, at Myrna’s encouragement.
Myrna was introduced to shuffleboard by her father in the 1970s. I can honestly say Myrna, “Clifford is proud of you today”. From 2001-2017, Myrna has supported and participated the park league of Lazy Days in North Fort Myers. She has taught new shufflers, and helped start a second park league, when there were too many players for our league. A problem, most parks can only dream of.
Her competitive shuffleboard started in 2007 when she visited the ISA Tournament taking place in Midland. She met Lorraine Pollock, and learned how to be chosen to participate, and, she brought a ton of friends with her. Myrna and Rendall went to the ISA tournament in Australia in 2008. As an amazing ambassador of Canada, she received the Sports Merit Award – on her first ISA tournament! 2008 she got her first OSA point with her husband Rendall, playing in Coldwater.
She was a co-founder of the Centre Wellington Club which opened in 2009. This busy woman is still actively emailing reminders to members, and sending promotions to the local paper. That’s Myrna first and foremost – promoting shuffleboard.
In 2009, she also played in the ISA Singles in Betmar Florida. 2009-2016 she served as a director of Lee County Shuffleboard Club in Florida. Again, she taught new players to play the game. 2009 she played on Team Ontario at the Inter Provincial in Coldwater, Ontario.
2010 Myrna was captain of the ISA Ladies Team Canada in Germany. They placed first. That year, she took on the responsibility of CNSA secretary.
2011 Myrna played in the ISA Singles in Dieppe NB, and was part of a delegation that travelled to Russia.
2012-2014 Myrna served as CNSA President. 2012 she was Captain of the Ladies Team who placed first in the ISA Seattle tournament.
2012-2016 Myrna served as First Vice President of the ISA
2013 Myrna played at the St. Pete’s ISA singles and was part of the delegation that went to Norway. She was on the Planning Committee for the 33rd International World Championship in Midland, Ontario, and was the playing Captain of the Canadian Ladies Team.
2015 Myrna was part of a delegation that went to Norwich, England and represented Canada at the ISA Championship at Clearwater.
2014-2016 served as CNSA Past President. She also was Captain for the Ladies Team Canada at the ISA in St. Cloud.
2016 became the ISA President, and achieved her 35 points with Partner Roy Babcock. Myrna says Coldwater will always be special, she got her first and 35th point there. Coldwater is always special because of the great meals, camping camaraderie of the event – and the Biltons are a big part of the love and laughter shared by all OSA players.
It gives me great pleasure to present the newest, very deserving, OSA HOF Recepient, my friend, and your friend, Myrna Bilton.

Myrna Bilton, Roy Babcock, Rendall Bilton
Roy Babcock was indicted into the Ontario Shuffleboard Association Hall Of Fame – P;ayer Category, in a ceremony held at the site of the OSA Doubles Tournament in Elora, June 14, 2017. Myrna Bilton, presentation follows:
Roy Babcock’s Shuffleboard Journey
In 1998 Roy and Lynda decided to spend their winters in Florida. Lynda being a nurse got a job at the Bradenton Hospital. Roy wondered what to do with himself. He found out about shuffleboard and decided to go to the courts and watch the “Pro Big Boys”. Roy has always been involved with sports so it didn’t take him long to want to play shuffleboard….he was hooked!!
Today it gives me great pleasure to honour Roy Babcock for his induction into the Ontario Shuffleboard Association, Hall of Fame Player Category.
Roy played his first Ontario singles shuffleboard tournament in 1999 at Newmarket. Wherever there is a shuffleboard tournament you will see Roy. You would say……Roy is just a little bit competitive!!!
Roy has represented Canada in 5 International Tournaments…twice in Midland, Ont, Dieppe, NB, St Petersburg, FL and Clearwater, FL. In 2014 he was a member of Team Canada that won gold in the ISA Championship in Midland, Ont. Roy brought pride to Canada in 2013 when he placed 3rd at the St Petersburg Singles ISA Championship.
Roy was presented with the USA National pin for placing 1st at the National Singles in 2012 at Bradenton, Florida.
In 2014, Roy achieved his 35 points to enter the Florida Southern District HOF. Roy’s name is on a brick in the Hall of Fame walkway at the Lee County Shuffleboard Club in North Fort Myers, FL. Roy has qualitied to play in the Florida Southern District Masters for 10 consecutive years.
For the many shuffleboard accomplishments Roy has achieved, he gladly gives back to shuffleboard by serving on the CNSA Board as 2nd Vice President for four years.
Thanks to Roy for teaching many of us the skills of shuffleboard. He may “take you to the shed!!” or give you a list on how to make you a better shuffler……..one being “half a hide is better than no hide!!” The list is long……..Doesn’t matter how long the list is Roy, we love you. Its friends like Roy that we meet along the way that helps us appreciate life’s journey.
This is truly a special day for both of us Roy, with our achievement of 35 Expert points that is required for us to be inducted into the OSA Hall of Fame.
Thank you, Roy for being a partner to Rendall and me in many shuffleboard tournaments .
You have enriched our lives with your friendship and love.
It is truly a privilege and honour to present our friend Roy Babcock into the OSA Hall of Fame in the Player Category Award.
Sincerely
Rendall & Myrna Bilton June 14, 2017 Elora, Ontario

Maureen Bryan, OSA Secretary has asked me to tell you that we (the Ontario Shuffleboard Association) have a generous offer from Dom Sports in exchange for OUR ideas on how to promote our beloved sport.
To promote shuffleboard – WHAT do we want to do? GET MORE PEOPLE PLAYING SHUFFLEBOARD! The big question is HOW? Dear Reader, we need YOUR ideas on HOW.

Coldwater Shuffleboard continues to play every Tue during these snowy winter months , in the auditorium of the Coldwater Municipal Arena and today they had their annual Christmas dinner. The day of Shuffleboard began at 9:00 am with three games of shuffleboard before stopping for turkey dinner with all the trimmings. President George O’Reilley welcomed everyone and thanked all the hard working ladies who cooked the turkeys and to everyone for bringing the salads the veggies and the deserts.
Beverly Fowler gave the blessing and her well chosen words had a special meaning to everyone during this festive season. President George thanked Beverly and congratulated her on winning a silver medal and for her outstanding performance at the recent International Shuffleboard Tournament in Florida.
Many of the players wore their Christmas togs as can be seen in the photo and the long friendship table was set and ready for the meal.
The Coldwater Shuffleboard club wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope to see you at the CNSA Tournament they will be hosting this coming summer .

Thursday, September 15th was the final evening for the Centre Wellington Shuffleboard Club. Approximately 45 members attended. The evening began with a club photo taken by Chris Burnett, followed by two free games of shuffle. Then everyone pitched in to roll up the mats, and put them away in storage for the winter. The club owns a trailer to transport and store the mats. Everyone appreciated the assistance of Sean and Kyle Bryan, who pitched in to help the club with the heavier work.
Delicious hot pizza and wine was served, followed by cake. Laughter and hugs filled the clubhouse as members departed for the winter season.

When the Ontario Shuffleboard Association President Rendal Bilton declared Coldwater to be the Shuffleboard Capital of Ontario he was never more correct in his declaration.
Coldwater has been a hot bed of activity for shuffleboard since the Club began several years ago and each and every year Coldwater attracts players to there tournaments from several locations in the USA and all across Canada.
Coldwater have a great place for parking motor homes / fifth wheel trailers and RV’s of all sizes.
The parking is free and you are always invited to come early and stay late. The Township of Severn and the village of Coldwater want you to feel welcome during your stay.
There are several great attractions in the immediate area such as the marine railway located at the Big Chute , or the old historic mill in the village, and of course this year there will be a banquet at the CNSA tournament, so reserve your spot early.
The Coldwater Club players who assembled for this group photo were taking part in the annual fun day and BBQ hosted by the Club. Games of Hoss Collar were played and generous cash prizes awarded at the end of the day.
Many of the players in the photo were already making plans for their up coming winter in the south .
Some will be going to Panama City while others will be in places such as Zephyrhills ,Clearwater , Frostproof, Dunedin, Bradenton , Lakeland , and where ever it is that great shufflers gather . So if you should happen to run across one of these fine people tell them George said Hi.
Coldwater is probably one of the very few, if not the only Club to have a shuffleboard program for the Special needs players. This year there were close to twenty special needs players taking part every Tue am.
The Club held a pizza party on their final day of the season and President George gave each and every player a large trophy with their name engraved on it.
