Ernie Thomas reports that he.did not win the 50/50 in Nobel, He won the 50/50 in Coldwater.
Does anyone know who won the 50/50 in Nobel open Tournament?
Thanks,
Bill
Some folks have asked about who won the 50-50, and when was the draw and announcement? Good questions, and it tells us that we can do a better job of communicating to the folks attending the tournaments (and maybe more importantly, those who bought 50-50 tickets).
So next year, we will! And if we don’t, LET US KNOW. (Please!)
The Nobel winner of the Amateur 50-50 (AMs are not as good at 50-50?, LOL), was Bev Fowler. (Bev donated her winnings to the Nobel Club. YAY BEV!). The winner of the Expert 50-50 (begging the question again), was Ernie Thomas.
Note that both Bev and Ernie are AMs!
CNSA HOF Jackets were presented at the Nobel tournament by CNSA president Jim Corbeil. Recipients were:
Barb Pipher,
Lorraine Pollock,
and Bill Pollock.
Congratulations once again to these valued members of our shuffleboard family.

northern Ontario.
Special thanks to Marlene Corbeil for being a dedicated tournament

shuffleboard.
Congratulations to Roy Babcock for achieving his 35 points to be
inducted into the OSA Hall of Fame.
Shuffler friends were saddened to hear the news of the passing of
Frank and Ruth Anne Sebo’s daughter-in- law. Our thoughts and prayers
are with them and their family.

Members and committees for making my job easy. I appreciate their
support and dedication to shuffleboard.
I want to thank all the shufflers that took part and supported the OSA
Tournaments. We had record breaking attendance this summer. I look
forward to seeing everyone next year.

We all know Roy Babcock is one of the greatest shufflers in Ontario, Canada and Florida. Roy earned his District Hall of Fame in Lee County, Florida in 2015.
Today, in Nobel, Ontario, shuffling with his partner Myrna Bilton, Roy earned his 35 points to enter the OSA HOF. Roy and Myrna partner together often, and make a great team.
Over the years, Roy has played with, and coached many amateurs, and is always ready to help anyone improve their game of shuffleboard.
Congratulations Roy!

From Myrna re her achievement of gaining 35 points for eligibility to enter the Ontario Shuffleboard Association Hall Of fame:
All I wanted to do was “Represent my Country” and now I have achieved 35
points, that allows me to enter into the OSA Hall of Fame!!
With the encouragement of Lorraine Pollock I started to play tournaments in
Florida and Ontario. In 2008 I was honoured to represent Canada in the ISA
Tournament at Australia. Stan and Lois McCormack were our captains – again
more encouragement. That did it!! The shuffleboard bug had bitten me!!
My first tournament in Ontario was in Coldwater with my partner, husband
Rendall, and 8 years later in Coldwater, with my partner Roy Babcock, that I was
able to achieve 35 points – “Special Thanks Guys”.
I appreciate my many friends and partners that have joined me on my
shuffleboard journey. Without them, I would never have achieved this
accomplishment.
I want to encourage everyone to play shuffleboard and have fun meeting new
friends
“We are all winners to be able to play shuffleboard, and if it is our turn to win a
tournament, it is a bonus”.
With a grateful heart,
Myrna
Parry Sound has become known as Hollywood north. Every year, there are movies and TV shows being filmed and produced in our area.
The Township of McDougall just called to notify us that all motor homes, RV’s, etc., must be off site no later than 4:00 pm on Thursday, following the tournament, as the movie crew and all their equipment are moving on site for the long weekend. If anyone intends on staying over on Thursday evening, they are able to park at the Walmart parking lot. To keep good relations with the Township so that we can continue to use the facility for the Provincial Tournaments, we would appreciate everyone’s cooperation in this matter.
Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing everyone next week.

Minutes of meeting of OSA board at Goderich, June 29, 2016
The OSA Board discussed the proposal of the following.
The $10.00 entry fee paid by each shuffler at an OSA Tournament ,
would be divided as such, $5.00 to prize money,
$2.00 to the OSA,
$1.50 to host club.
$1.50 to tourn. director.
This gives the OSA , a small amount of money from each tournament , to help them pay for tournaments in the future. If the OSA doesn’t save some funds coming in , then we will run out of money, and not be able to support these tournaments in the future.
This proposal was passed by the board, and will be in effect starting with the Coldwater Tournament of this year,
on July 12-14 , 2016. If there are any questions over this proposal, you can forward them to the Pres.Rendall Bilton,
but this decision will be brought up at next year’s AGM., but as of now it is a confirmed decision.
Regards Rendall Bilton, Pres. OSA
Maureen Bryan, Sec.OSA.

Attached is our flyer advertising “NEW format for the BIG APPLE TOURNAMENT:”
After 25 plus years of having the APPLE TOURNAMENT play in a “Mixed Draw Doubles” format, we had a Club meeting and have decided to run our APPLE tournament this year applying a “MINGLE-SINGLES” format.
In recent conversations with Jim and Marlene Corbeil and Ruth Stewart, they thought it would be a good idea to change away from the mixed draw double Still playing to win apples, the shufflers have the opportunity to play in all games. (Not travel 40 miles, and have a bye in their first game, lose in your second game and go home because you are done.) This was the main complaint we had with the Mixed-Draw Double format last year.
Hopefully this NEW format will be well received by all.

Thank You Myrna!
Please have a look at the attached map images if you need help finding the Elora tournament:
Note the Address is 60 David Street W.
First is a map of how to get there from Hwy 401. Take Exit #295 to Hwy 6 N. past Guelph.

Next is a bit more detail. From Hwy 6, take Wellington County Road 39,
then Wellington County Road 7 to David Street W, Turn Right and past the park, the Curling Club will be on your right.

Beautiful Elora and Fergus Ontario
Location: the Elora Curling Club, 60 David Street, Elora, Ontario, N0B 1S0
The name of the club is Centre Wellington (because of the amalgamation of Fergus, Elora and surrounding communities in Wellington county.).
Description: Wonderful scenic area, with the old towns of Fergus and Elora perched on the Elora Gorge, and surrounded by the prettiest farmland you ever saw!
See -> http://www.grandandgorgeous.com/
The Elora Curling Club facilities are perfect for shuffleboard too, with a very comfortable lounge windowed over the courts. Great lunches served – We have been promised homemade soup and baking!
Also please plan to attend the Annual General Meeting June 14 after shuffleboard. Come see Peter Berg’s and Glen Peltier’s induction into the OSA Hall Of Fame! These are players who have gained the 35 points necessary to be inducted into the HOF – Player Category.
Thanks Muriel – Great Work as always!. I was able to attach your text as captions on individual pictures. (I hope I got it right).

Hi Bill. This is the picture that you took of us. We placed 2nd to Pam & Phil Hill see you next week.
Response – Thanks Rip. Always a pleasure playing with you and Bill. I had hoped though, that after you took that win from Barb Howard and I, you and Bill would go on to the top of the Consolations! You were beat by a very good and good team though.

PUT YOUR CLUB ON THE MAP! … Keep everyone up-to-date about your club through the OSA website!
The OSA maintains a CLUB INFO PAGE! This is list of shuffleboard clubs in Ontario, with built-in links to a page of detailed information for each club. Click on the main menu item “Clubs“. The CLUB INFO PAGE will then be shown, and each underlined club name you see is a link to the important details about the club!
One of the details that will help people find the club is the postal code. That way, any potential new members wanting to play shuffleboard, can find the nearest club, when they play, and who to contact to join.
We are working on updating the club pages with postal codes, as well as THE MAP of Ontario with clubs pinpointed! Stay tuned!
